There’s no sure-fire formula for giving a perfect presentation, but here are some very useful tips. These will help you to plan what you are going to say.
Planning is the secret to persuasive presentation. Think of it as a military campaign (except the audience are not, usually, your enemy). Ideally you should have a at least two weeks to plan a really effective presentation but even where time is limited, the more planning you do, the better it will be.
What needs to be planned?
- What you want to achieve by the end of the presentation
- The key points to be made
- The story you are going to tell
- The room where you will give the presentation
- Who will be listening and watching you
- What visuals you will use
- When and how the visuals will be created
- What equipment you need
The more focused your objectives, the more likely you will be to achieve them. As an example, rather than say, “ My objective is to make people like the product”, you should tell yourself, “By the end of the session I will make at least three good sales leads, distribute brochures to everyone present, make at least two appointments, get at least one order.....” and so on.
Once you have worked out your objectives, next make a list of all the key points you want to make during the presentation.
In the next part, I will give you some crucial tips on planning your next great presentation. Go here for the next part.
